Comments on our services

Dear Helen,

I would, first of all, like to thank you for the promptness and thoroughness of the assessment. In fact, the whole process has been very professionally handled.

I am, indeed, pleased with my assessment, considering that I seem to have faired slightly better than I had anticipated. My worst case scenario would have been realized, if the assessment had suggested that it was not a viable project at all or that I could not write at all. I found the comments about the writing style quite encouraging.

I fully agree with and accept the assessment. Some of the errors might have just been a result of the naive desire to get over and done with it. I now see that I could have spent a bit more time with the ms to fix the most glaring errors such as foreword (as opposed to forward).

Dear Helen

I want to thank you for your help with my novel 'The Hunted'. Before I found your website I had received a quote from another Consultancy and decided it wasn't worth the expense.

I was fortunate enough to find you! Firstly, your consultancy fees is extremely reasonable and your service is worth every cent! I've found your input invaluable and finally, someone was able to explain to me the difference between 'showing' and not 'telling' a story. You put it in such simple terms and believe me, I had researched the Internet for an explanation and was still confused until you explained the difference.

I would also like to thank you for the time you didn't charge me for, when I phoned you for advice. Every other Literary Consultancy would have charged me by the minute!

It is difficult to explain just how much I have valued your input and observations. I have also appreciated your candour and believe, because of your input, my book now stands a chance of being published.

I look forward to sending you my next book and the novel my daughter is writing.

Thank you!

Kind regards

Dear Helen,

Thank you for the report/assessment on my ms.  I am greatly impressed with the time and work so obviously devoted to my story by Osborne Porter, and I spent the day yesterday working on the necessary changes.
Thank you again for a job extremely well done - I appreciate your comments and advices and will act on them.

Kind regards
Johanna

Dear Helen,

I just wanted to thank you for your encouragement at that critical starting point of my career as a writer. Someone else could have read Icarus first, and judged it quite differently. So your written evaluation will remain special to me in that it marked the day I knew I could and would be a writer.

The second novel is progressing extremely well; I should have a ms by mid-year. I spent more time on preparation (character profiles and plot structure) than I did with Icarus and this is making the writing flow better. Inevitably the first novel is a steep learning curve. There’s nothing like writing a novel to actually understand what not to do next time.

Morning Helen
My book, Mandleve’s Gold, is now available world wide and I must say, Raider Publishing is doing wonders for the book. Last night they telephonically interviewed me all the way from New York. This will be broadcast to 125 countries world wide on the 20th May.
Aliens and Dolphins is in the final stages and will be released next month.
I have been complimented by my Publisher for the standard of editing you have done. I sure don't want to lose you as an Editor.

Dear Ginny & Helen

RE: HOT CHOCOLATE, WITH CHILLI

A heartfelt thank you both for your assistance in enabling me to publish my book. I am highly delighted with the professional end-product, and the stunning cover you designed is perfect! (And of course, thanks again for indulging my whim to have a cat on the cover!). The books are selling well and all purchasers have commented on how good it looks (let’s hope the contents match up to their ‘wrapper’!)

Thank you once again.

Regards
Pam Gilson

Many thanks for reviewing my manuscript.  I find the comments of the reviewers extremely useful and I am impressed with the practical guidelines so that I can improve my work.  Not only have you provided an encouraging critique but you also succeeded in motivating me to make the necessary changes and to re-submit the work.  As you know, it is difficult to make the transition from academic writing to fiction.  Your help was exactly what I needed. I am working on the recommended changes which should be ready in a month or so.   Also, thank you for agreeing to act as my agent in this regard.  I cannot express my gratitude enough.

Kind Regards

Hello Helen

Many thanks for your excellent editing. I have to go through it slowly and more completely but my first ‘general’ read through is that this will improve the book considerably. I particularly liked your suggesting  adding some ‘show’ to my ‘tell’ and they will make a good improvement.-I know I am too old school from the days when “A tale well told is all the rules thou needs”
