Helen has been awarded a number of prizes for her writing, and was winner of a competiton for the first chapter of a novel - The Day the Fountain of Youth Dried Up - which has now been completed and published. She has written and produced many plays for amateur drama, with Happy Hubbies playing to full houses and much acclaim. In 2008 she won the SAWC Fay Goldie award for drama. Helen was instrumental in forming the publishing division of the South African Writers' Circle and she and Ginny worked together to compile two anthologies of competiton-winning short stories written by members - three of her own prize-winning stories included. They also published other individual members' novels, whose books were selected by the committee.
Ginny joined the SA Writers’ Circle as Public Relations Officer and then performed the dual role of Vice Chairman and PRO. She has been published in a number of magazines and newspapers.
Helen Osborne and Ginny Porter, colleagues in the South Africa Writers’ Circle for more than 10 years, formed Osborne Porter Literary Services in 2006. Helen served as Chairman of the SA Writers' Circle for four years, before deciding to go 'home' to England. Osborne Porter wish to encourage people to write well and to get published - and have procured publishing deals for two of their authors.
